Hopkins Homes GMAC Real Estate donated and 12 people participated in the 2nd Annual Kidney Walk at Thompson Park. The walk benefits the National Kidney Foundation of Central New York. The programs that benefit from this walk to help in the fight against kidney disease are:
- KEEP (Kidney Early Evaluation Program) will screen family members of patients with kidney disease in an effort to slow the onset and hopefully prevent the disease.
- KICK (Kids Interested in the Care of their Kidneys) will empower high school students with the tools of education and awareness as they are introduced to the risk factors and warning signs of kidney disease.
- KidneyPlus...Healthy Lives - will provide the wheels and mobility of a mobile unit to reach out to the underserved in an effort to provide access to quality health care.
